North Lanarkshire Council has approved a Wishaw Town Centre Action Plan comprising a number of related regeneration projects to ensure Wishaw is a sustainable, vibrant and attractive Town. Wishaw Town Centre is a priority for the Council and its partners and a substantial investment programme has been identified to deliver the Action Plan and facilitate wider regeneration benefits. Central to the Wishaw Town Centre Action Plan, is an extensive Streetscape Improvement Programme including works comprising of road re-profiling, new paving, street furniture, landscaping, art works and street lighting. The extent of the improvement programme is significant, extending the entire length of Main Street and linking in with Stewarton Street, Kirk Road, Caledonian Road, Russell Street, Kenilworth Avenue, Hill Street, Belhaven Terrace (Miller Street), Dryburgh Road. A highly experienced, skilled and committed contractor is sought to implement these extensive Streetscape Improvements for Wishaw Town Centre. It is anticipated that the contract would be delivered over two financial years. The scope of the works include: — carriageway re-profiling and reconstruction, — new stone paving, sett detailing and stone kerbing, — installation of new street furniture and signage, — soft landscaping and street tree planting, — new road drainage, — new street lighting columns and cabling, — liaison/management of concurrent utility diversions. The works will be carried out within a busy retail/public realm environment and the contractor will be required to show particular experience and expertise in minimising disruption to retailers and the general public. In particular they will be required to demonstrate excellent public liaison skills and pedestrian/traffic management procedures with continual review and improvement as an integral part. Good forward planning skills will be required to allow the appropriate permissions from the Roads Authority to be in place timeously.
