The scope of the contract is to design, manufacture, supply, test, deliver, install and commission subject to a performance specification a vertically focusing bendable multi-layer mirror (BMLM) for the side-station I15-1. The BMLM will require three different laterally-graded (and possibly also depth-graded) multi-layer coating stripes in order to focus X-rays at three energies; 40.0, 65.3 and 76.6 keV. It is not necessarily expected that any single Supplier will have all of the required expertise to manufacture and polish the mirror substrate, apply the multi-layer coating and manufacture the mounting system and vacuum vessel. It is therefore likely that the Supplier will need to work closely with sub-contractors in order to deliver the complete multi-layer mirror system. Where the proposed design involves significant work to be undertaken by a sub-contractor, this should be stated clearly in the tender return along with the name of the sub-contrator.
