In March 2011, The Department for International Development (DFID) and the Economic & Social Research Council (ESRC) announced a new joint programme on economic growth in developing countries: the DFID-ESRC Growth Programme (DEGP). DEGP's purpose is to generate high quality evidence on economic growth and for that evidence to be incorporated into policy by developing countries. This procurement exercise is for proposers who would like to deliver the DEGP Directorate function. The primary objective of the Directorate will be to ensure that high quality evidence on economic growth is generated and that this is effectively disseminated and incorporated into policy dialogue, and policy making in developing countries. Key deliverables of the Directorate include providing intellectual input into the management of the programme, strong intellectual oversight, establishing an international profile for the programme and ensuring the programme attracts world class researchers (amongst other deliverables). It is anticipated that a joint/team bid will be best placed to deliver the service. Expressions of interest must be made via e-mail or telephone contact; the invitation-to-bid document will be issued by e-mail.
