The government’s goal for broadband investment is to accelerate the roll-out of ultra-fast broadband to cover all areas of Malta and Gozo, concentrating where possible on priority broadband users such as businesses, schools and public services, and reaching all residential areas in a phased approach. Such infrastructure is referred to in this document as a fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network. However, when FTTH is limited in reach of certain users, other technologies necessary (such as wireless) may be considered. The objective remains the distribution of ultra-fast broadband in Malta and Gozo. The project will seek to attract private sector investment and be directed to open-access infrastructure.
