The B-SkillFUL project will develop the skills of poor and disadvantaged men and women at the grass-roots level, to enhance their income through decent employment and move them out of poverty. It will work with the Informal Sector Industry Skills Council (ISC) to improve work conditions through partnerships with the private informal enterprises and private training providers. The project will work in 15-20 districts of Bangladesh through three phases, in a span of maximum 12 years. Through the B-SkillFUL project, at least 200 000 poor and disadvantaged men and women will be trained in demand-driven skills in the 3 phases planned. Of those receiving training, at least 70 % (or 140 000) will be placed in sustainable self/wage employment. The trainings will be delivered by training service providers (TSP), whose capacities will be built to facilitate not only trainings, but also delivery of life skills; coaching and counselling; and labour rights and obligations. The project will further address the constraints of the informal sector through creating partnerships with the Informal Sector Industry Skills Councils to advocate for labour rights, including occupational health and safety, and advocate to the employers better labour conditions. The 3 outcomes that are targeted through this project are: 1. Poor and disadvantaged men and women have gainful wage/self-employment. 2. Private sector enterprises and TSPs (in 08-10 districts of Bangladesh) provide workplace-based training, while respecting the fundamental labour rights of the trainees and graduates. 3. Informal private enterprises and graduates are aware about labour rights and obligations.
