The objective and extent of the procurement: For several years, the faculties DMF, AB and IVT have used Altiris as a tool for installation and operation of PCs. IVT alone, operates more than 2 200 PCs by using Altiris. The establishment of a client operation system will require a huge amount of time but will provide major expenditure cuts when it is established. Replacement of the system is therefore not realistic since potential expenditure cuts cannot be measured up against the costs the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, henceforth referred to as the Awarding Authority, will get in connection with technical and functional conditions when implementing a new system. The Awarding Authority therefore considers that the service (use of the Altiris software) due to technical reasons can be provided by a particular supplier, only (compare the Public procurement Act, §§ 2-1 and 14-4). Based on this, the tender contest therefore includes procurement of distributor services for Altiris software as well as transition to a Campus agreement model for Altiris for the Faculties DMF, IVT and AB, whilst the Campus agreement shall be used by the entire Awarding Authority, including companies under the Awarding Authority’s administration (e.g. BIBSYS).
