The system shall be integrated, be intrinsically safe, and provide secure communication between; in-service RAF and Boscombe Down Air Traffic Control radio recording systems, other airfield ground management radio systems at RAF air stations and Boscombe Down airfield, WATCHKEEPER Ground Control Stations, WATCHKEEPER Launch and Recovery vehicles and WATCHKEEPER Launch and Recovery personnel. A key aspect of the tactical ground management radio system will be the safe transmission and receipt of radio communications for the Launch and Recovery personnel (whilst wearing in-service Individual Protective Equipment such as combat helmet, body armour eye protection and personal weapon) whilst operating alongside a fully running (engine) WATCHKEEPER Air Vehicle. The system must also not interfere with other WATCHKEEPER communication systems or significantly compromise the WATCHKEEPER Release to Service Safety Case.
