T154 Provision of Outpatient Prescription Medicines and Inpatient Clinical Pharmacy Services to Goole District Hospital. Whilst the Trust provides a wide range of Pharmacy services on both the Scunthorpe and Grimsby hospital sites, there is no on-site Pharmacy department at Goole Hospital. Outpatient dispensing services and In-patient clinical services at Goole Hospital have been provided under contract awarded by the Trust to a 3rd party. In-patient medication supply falls outside the scope of this contract and is presently undertaken by Scunthorpe Hospital using dedicated internal transport systems. The contract is due for renewal so the pharmacy department are therefore seeking to contract again for the dispensing of outpatient prescriptions and in-patient clinical services at Goole Hospital for a further term of 5 years with an option to extend by a further 12 months by mutual agreement and subject to satisfactory performance. The successful contractor will be required to provide an efficient, clinically effective and economical medicines management solution to satisfy both In-patient and out-patient requirements and ensure Trust patients receive their prescriptions in a professional and timely manner. Whilst the Trust does not wish to be prescriptive around the manner and method of service delivery, the following factors must be taken into consideration by prospective suppliers interested in providing this service. i) Currently there is NO provision of space available within the Hospital site for any exclusive on-site occupation, storage or dispensing facilities from which to operate this contract. ii) The existing contractor operates from a Community Pharmacy located in close proximity to the Hospital premises. The Trust therefore requires prospective bidders to propose robust and effective alternate means of dispensing Out-patient prescriptions that do not unduly impact on the availability or accessibility of prescription dispensing currently being provided to Trust Outpatients. The Goole pharmacy Outpatient service receives on average 250-350 items per calendar month and the range of medication dispensed is broad from ophthalmic to orthopaedics. Routine service will be provided 5 days a week, Monday to Friday between 9:00 to 18:00, except bank holidays. For the in-patient service a Pharmacist is required for 5 hours a week to visit each ward once a week at times to be agreed.
