The British Pharmacopoeia (BP) is a publication currently in six volumes together with the BP (Veterinary), a CD-ROM and online versions. Volumes I to IV contain monographs for medicinal and pharmaceutical substances and formulated preparations in approximately 4 000 pages. Volume V contains infra-red reference spectra, appendices and supplementary chapters in approximately 1 000 pages. The BP (Veterinary) volume is approximately 450 pages. The British Approved Names (BAN) book is a list of names, and their chemical description, that are used for pharmaceutical substances. The contract is for the annual publication of the BP and BP (Veterinary) in hard copy and electronic formats, the marketing, promotion and distribution of the publications, and the development of new electronic and media formats of the publications. The contract also includes the publication of the BAN book as required in hard copy and electronic formats together with its marketing, promotion and distribution.
