Library Services Platform - LSP.

The objective of the contract is to purchase a modern Library Services Platform, henceforth referred to as LSP, implemented as an open system with service oriented architecture. LSP shall be in operation within the end of 2014 and must be based on technology with an operating time of minimum 10 years. The LSP system must be in full operation for other clients at the beginning of the procurement process. Products subject to basic development or in operation at development partners, only, do not comply with the requirements. It is essential that the LSP product manage all types of media in a uniform manner, independent on format or procurement process. The uniform handling shall not only be visible in the user interface, but also reflects through the underlying services. The LSP product must offer a platform which enables BIBSYS to implement the expansion the consortium requires. Some expansion, particularly those required by the National Library of Norway, must be implemented by BIBSYS before the consortium can start using it. BIBSYS must therefore at an early stage have access to the necessary basic services and interfaces. The BIBSYS consortium invites tenderers to include a “Discovery” system as option. The Discovery system must have a more extensive cover than the requirements are to a traditional end user and unify all types of content in each user interface. The tenderers must also offer all services necessary for integration with the LSP product for supply of all types of media, conduct loans and provide the users overviews of their loans, etc. The LSP product shall be offered as “Software as a Service” or “Cloud” system, possibly with local installation as an option.
