Land reclamation services. Under the Convention on the prohibition of the use, stockpiling, production and transfer of anti-personnel mines and on their destruction (Ottawa Convention) the UK has an obligation to clear the remaining 113 mined areas in the Falkland Islands by 2019. Following the completion of the phase 1 project in 2009/10 the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) has decided to proceed with a further phase of the project which will concentrate on the land release of a yet-to-be-decided specified area. This notice is seeking expressions of interest from service providers interested in participating in the tender exercise for the Falkland Islands De-mining programme office (DPO). The role of the DPO is to execute the policies of the National Mine Action Authority (NMAA) and it is required to supervise mine action activities on the Falkland Islands; and act as the Accreditation Body, Monitoring Body and Inspection Body for the Falkland Islands De-mining Programme. It must be noted that companies bidding to qualify for this DPO requirement will be excluded from bidding for the provision of a land release contractor in the Falkland Islands (which is the subject of the separate OJEU notice 2011/S 42-068920 published on 28.2.2011).
