Antrim Integrated Bus/Rail Station Refurbishment and Park & Ride.

The Railway Station at Antrim is a single storey red brick building with an interior concourse which leads to the main railway station platforms. It is a good example of a traditional early 20th century station house and was included in the B2 listed buildings category by the Environment and Heritage Service in 2005. Translink are proposing to refurbish and extend the existing building to meet all current regulations and repair defects. This will be done by restoring the listed façade of the building and constructing a new single storey infill extension. The station has an existing park and ride facility located on the opposite side of the tracks to the station. An additional park and ride facility is to be constructed on the station side and improving the access for the bus workshop. The proposed contract period is 18 months to complete the work during which bus and rail operations need to be unaffected. The estimated value, excluding VAT, of the project is in the cost range 1 800 000 GBP to 2 200 000 GBP (including the park & ride facility).
