It is the Authorities intention to seek a partner or partners for the design, build, operation and maintenance of accommodation that will include mixed tenure Extra Care units. In addition, a number of Extra Care Schemes will contain an enhanced range of facilities and support on site as part of Derbyshires joint commissioning strategies for older people and to respond to local demand. These will include some of the following: preventative services such as health and wellbeing zones, specialist day care facilities, short term accommodation and support for respite or intermediate care, some long term residential provision including specialist long term dementia provision. The Authority will make available land sites on a 125 year lease across Derbyshire (excluding the administrative areas of Derby City). It is envisaged that the schemes will provide a balanced community with some residents having high care needs and others having low to moderate. Although there is no guarantee that schemes will be able to provide it, there is an expectation that for most people the accommodation will offer a home for life.
