GSG are looking to appoint a supplier for the provision of a fully managed WAN (Wide Area Network) and DSL data network services across its offices and schemes. This contract is a single lot covering the provision of data and IT networks to support the wide area network and intra-site connectivity comprising: — a fully managed WAN (based on MPLS or an equivalent technology) between the three main offices in Cowley, Oxford; Chippenham, Wiltshire and West Swindon, — this will include the implementation of the new WAN and importantly, the smooth and seamless transition from the existing WAN infrastructure to ensure business continuity during the switch over, — GSG also expect the successful supplier to maintain and support GSG and provide insightful management information to enable GSG to manage and plan capacity cost effectively, — quality of service and packet prioritisation based on packet type or protocol, — WAN optimisation and acceleration, — GSG also require an appropriately sized Internet connection to provide internet access to the three main sites and satellite offices, — ADSL services, XDSL services, SDSL Services, and other broadband connections at around 25 local offices. The connections should extend the core data infrastructure out to small satellite and branch offices to provide direct LAN access and internet connectivity. This contract is awarded for a period of up to five (5) years, during which GSG’s IT strategy will see more use of Software as a Service and Infrastructure as a Service capabilities. Contract pricing must be for a minimum of 3 years with guarantees of continued service should GSG require for up to 5 years. It is expected that this procurement will produce financial savings for GSG as well as support the IT strategy. GSG are therefore looking for a supplier that can meet all of the data network requirements of the Group cost effectively and provide active support in maintaining capacity and capability as circumstances evolve; advising on security and business continuity, and providing invoicing and reporting and information management that enables GSG to manage this cost as effectively as possible.
