This is a non-mandatory notice (below threshold) which is being placed for advertising purposes only. The estimated value of the contract for services to which this notice relates falls below the relevant financial threshold under Directive 2004/17/EC (as amended). Cross border Enterprise trains which operate Belfast to Dublin comprise of 4 train-sets, the normal configuration of which is:- 1 Class 201 GM diesel locomotive 1 MK 3 Generator Van 4 Class 9000, De-Dietrich carriages, standard class. 1 Class 9000, De-Dietrich carriage, Catering car 1 Class 9000, De-Dietrich Carriage, 1st Plus 1 Class 9000, De-Dietrich Carriage, DVT including 1st plus compartment Of the 4 train-sets, 3 operate each day with one train-set in maintenance or operational spare. The train service operates at an approximately 2 hourly frequency with a journey time of two hours for the 110 miles covered. As an InterCity train there is a limited number of intermediate stops, 5 being the maximum. These trains have been in passenger service for 16 years and are due a half-life overhaul and refurbishment. This will include system overhaul, interior refurbishment, re-livery and body side glazing replacement. The 28 carriages were built by De-Dietrich and glazing was fitted as per the technical description below. The coaching stock is fitted with windows of different sizes appropriate to the layout of the coach interior. Six different non-opening window sizes are specified, and all have double glazed toughened glass. The external pane of glass is 8mm thick and the inner pane is 5mm thick. The thicker outer pane is marked at the perimeter with a 3 mm white dot, to ensure that the window is correctly installed with the heavier glass to the outside. The construction details are the same for all the window sizes, clear glass being used, with the exception of the toilet window glass, which is opaque. The glass is Email inscribed in 10 mm white characters visible from inside the carriage, which gives details of the producers name, date of manufacture, and the glass quality. To mount the window, an aperture of appropriate size is cut out of the coach panelling, which has been previously stiffened at this point by internal framing. At appropriate points around the internal perimeter, 8 mm threaded studs are welded to the panels and framing. A rubber gasket and a predrilled anodised alloy frame of ‘Z' section clamps the glazing in position. The alloy frame is secured to the studs by nuts and washers. Insulating material around the glazing isolates the glass from the alloy surround, preventing condensation. The scope of this procurement is for approximately 500 off body side glasses. It is planned to change the specification in two key areas — Use of laminated glass to meet latest RSSB guidelines on passenger containment strategy. — Possible use of tint to reduce glare. The supplier will also be responsible for the supply of glass delivered to York Road and to provide warranty support. This project is subject to tight time constraints, must complete by November 2015. Short lead times for supply of glass is required. An option will be included to supply glass for a further 3 years to support the fleet in service.
