Introduction: Dong Energy Thermal Power is planning to implement district heating production based on biofuels through erection of a number of wood-chip boilers, providing steam for existing steam turbine and/or stand alone district heating condensor. Two to four boilers are envisaged as an add-on the existing gas fired plant, Skærbækverket. The new biomass fired boilers shall deliver up to 320 MW heat to the district heating system. It is envisaged that the new boiler plant shall have a capacity of maximum 280 MW and the remaining 40 MW will be provided by flue gas condensers. In normal operation, the steam will be fed to an existing turbine. It will also be possible to operate the whole plant only producing heat through by-pass operation to the stand alone by-pass condensor. Fuel will be wood chips. Recycled wood will not be used. The fuel specification will be included in the Invitation to Tender. The intention is to provide the boiler with an SNCR system for NOx-reduction. Flue gas treatment: The boilers shall be equipped with a complete flue gas treatment system consisting of bag filters. It is envisaged that the flue gas treatment package consists of the following main components: 1. Bag filters with fly ash handling system (Separate unit for each boiler); 2. Flue gas fan (Separate unit for each boiler); 3. Fly ash silo with dry or wet extraction system; 4. Flue gas channels and dampers; 5. Absorbent silo with dosing system; 6. Environmental measurement system. The bag filters are placed after the boiler economizers to clean the flue gas from dust and other pollutants. Each boiler shall be equipped with a separate bag filter and a flue gas fan. Fly ash shall be transported from the bag filters to a common ash storage silo. The fly ash can be extracted either dry or wet to a truck. The intention is to have the possibility to provide the bag filters with an absorbent dosing system for reduction of HCl and SO2.
