Future Ground Search.

The means to allow the basic, intermediate and advanced search user to detect, locate, confirm and where necessary identify (by day and night, in all climatic conditions and in a potentially high threat operating environment) the presence of, or provide assurance of the absence of, explosive targets (or components thereof) emplaced within the Land Environment. The Future Ground Search Programme is Cat C and currently within the Concept Phase, initial gate is anticipated in Jan 18 with a subsequent planning assumption service entry date (PASE) of 2025. The key questions the Delivery Team are seeking industry input to are as follows: — What is commercially available now to meet the above need? — What can the sensor(s) be used to detect? — What are the limitations on the sensors use, i.e. moisture content of soil, temperature etc. — What is its weight and size when packaged? How can the fit and form be tailored to meet military requirements? — Is there the potential for data recording and download\upload? — What will or could be available in mid-2018 for delivery in 2020? — What is under development; are there any new sensor technologies? — Has consideration been given to deploying sensor equipment on a manportable UAV or UGV? This RFI is the first of several planned engagements with industry to help inform the Future Ground Search Programme. The Delivery Team plan to hold a series of industry workshops (likely to be held June — October 16) to explore programme/delivery assumptions in order to support requirements generation. Following the workshops, consideration will also be given to the opportunity to enable industry to demonstrate and field test equipment later in the year. In addition to responses to the key questions above, please can you indicate if you would be interested in supporting the workshops. Further details of the workshops will follow when dates are confirmed. Please respond in writing by 17:00 (GMT) on the 27.5.2016.
