Multi-systemic Therapy Programme (MST) in Derby.

Provision of services to setup and deliver a Multi-systemic Therapy Service Programme (MST) for Derby City Council. The aim is to meet the needs of young people aged 11-17 who, due to their behaviour, are at risk of an out of home placement either in local authority care or in custody. The programme must have complete fidelity to the MST model and is to be provided to young people living with their parents or carers in the city of Derby. MST research has indicated that MST treatment typically lasts from 3 to 5 months (average of 4 months) and that caseloads range from 4 to 6 families (average of 5 families). Caseload size may be impacted by such characteristics as the average time of the cases in treatment on a caseload (newer cases require significantly more time), number of problem young people in the home and the relative complexity of the young person's behaviour. It is expected that the service will work with around 35-40 families in the first full year and 40-50 families in subsequent years.
