Transport for London (TfL) are committed to providing information to customers that allows them to make the most effective use of the network. Real-time information provided at stations is key to this, and is delivered through a number of channels and formats. One of these formats is electronic service update boards (ESUBs), which are screens positioned in front of London Underground station gate lines to give customers entering the network an ‘at a glance’ understanding of how all parts of the network are running. There are approximately 340 ESUBs across the LU network and further ESUB rollouts are now planned on DLR, Overground, Cable Car and some train operating company sites. Of these 340 ESUBs, 100 of the oldest units are now life-expired/obsolete and cannot cope with the increased advancement in software required to meet demands. A project has been initiated to replace these units as well as others when required with modern integrated devices to accommodate advances for current and future application software. The scope of this requirement is to establish a framework agreement with a supplier to manufacture and supply ESUB units to TfL.
