UK SBS PR18174 Freia Neutron Guide NBOA

Freia is a neutron reflectometer optimised for soft condensed matter and life sciences that is currently being developed by UKRI as an in-kind collaboration with ESS ERIC. Freia will be installed and operated at the ESS facility in Lund, Sweden. More details on Freia can be found on the ESS website: https://europeanspallationsource.se/instruments/freia. The NBOA will fit within the Neutron Beam Port Insert (NBPI), which will form a part of the ESS target systems. The Supplier will be responsible for designing, manufacturing and delivering the NBOA for the Freia instrument. The NBOA design must be optimised to the requirements outlined in this document and meet UKRI approval. The NBOA includes: • Neutron guide • Alignment devices The Supplier will also be responsible for installing and aligning the NBOA within the NBPI assembly at the ESS site in Lund.
