There is a requirement for the beam size at Diamond Light Source to be controlled using a series of blades. These are commonly assembled in a single unit known as a slit system. These may be primary, secondary or exit slits. Depending on the beamline and the respective position therein these "slit systems" may be either water cooled to cater for white beam definition or uncooled for use in the monochromatic beam.
