Call for proposals — Bordeaux — Brazza — Soferti Hall. The City of Bordeaux is launching a call for proposals for Soferti Hall, in conjunction with recreational and hotel programs currently underway close by, in order to make this site into a pole of attraction throughout the metropolitan area of Bordeaux. The aim is to rehabilitate this wooden building, built in 1904, the historic value of which enjoys broad consensus, as much for its architecture as for the memories that live on in this place. The City of Bordeaux (250 000 inhabitants) is undertaking an ambitious urban development project to accommodate 100 000 additional inhabitants by 2030. This urban project will result in the construction of 50 000 new residences and a number of public facilities in the heart of the city. After the development of the District of Bassins à Flot, it's now the District of Brazza on the right bank which will be developed, thanks to the new Jacques Chaban-Delmas Bridge. Brazza, a district with a maritime and industrial history, will be transformed into a mixed downtown area. Covering 53 hectares, 525 000 m 2 of floor space will be built, including 4 500 residential units, 75 000 m 2 of office space and 90 000 m 2 for activities and businesses. The District of Brazza is particularly accessible from boulevards as well as from public transport systems which will be developed. The Hall is located at the entry to the District and constitutes a key feature of the urban landscape as well as of the urban development plan. The aim is to transform it into a place to live for the District and a center of attraction offering new programs for the residents of Bordeaux. This urban project is today underway; 120 000 m 2 of combined residences and varied activities will be developed in the coming 5 years. The rehabilitation of the Hall forms a part of this dynamic. The Hall consists of 5 000 m² of covered area with heights varying from 10 m to 18 m at the roof ridge. In addition to this construction, the City of Bordeaux has included in the call for proposals a plot of land of 3 958 m² in close proximity.
