The scope of the contract is for the design, supply of material, manufacture, assembly, test and delivery of a mirror system for the VMXi Diamond beamline (Versatile Macromolecular crystallography). The system is composed of two hard x-ray mirrors. The scope of the contract is the design, manufacture, test, and delivery of: — M1 vertical focussing active mirror and mechanics — M2 horizontal focussing active mirror and mechanics — Vacuum vessel — Support system to mount on DLS End station granite — Mechanical and electrical interface to beamline services The supplier is encouraged to comment on any aspect of this specification and to identify possible modifications that could lead to either improved quality or reduced cost (without compromising the performance specification). It is acknowledged that different suppliers will have different preferences and techniques for manufacturing so it is anticipated that a series of detailed design meetings will take place to agree the definitive design of the mirror position adjustment systems. The supplier will then produce a set of detailed drawings to present to DLS for final approval at FDR prior to commencing manufacture. The optics will be installed at DLS on a remotely controlled positioning system and operated under very high vacuum (VHV) conditions. The mirrors are to be UHV compatible.
