Provision of Charter Vessels.

Function: The ‘Chartered Vessel’, which will be either an Emergency Response Rescue Vessel (ERRV) or Patrol Vessel and supplied on a crewed or bareboat basis, will be taken into ‘Government Service’ for a designated period of time, and provide Safety of Life at Sea for migrants travelling by boat from either Turkey or Libya to Europe (mainly Greece and Italy) Border Force (BF) is expected to continue to support the enduring commitment to the mission deployed in the Aegean Sea in support of the humanitarian effort, providing Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS), to rescue those migrants making the journey across either the central Mediterranean or Aegean sea by boat; in a bi-lateral agreement with the Greek Coastguard. This could result in a requirement for a further ERRV charter period. The purpose of this document is to assess the capability of the market to meet the requirement.
