DIPOLE is a project at the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL) with the long term aim of establishing a facility at RAL based on a kilojoule-class diode pumped nanosecond laser system. The short term objective is developing the required technology base for high energy DPSSL systems, also with regards to the two European ESFRI projects called HiPER and ELI. This tender document gives detailed technical specifications for ytterbium:YAG gain media that will be used in an amplifier that acts as a 100J prototype for DIPOLE. The minimum scope of the contract is for the manufacture, polishing, optical testing, certification and delivery of the gain media to Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, UK.
