Development and Operation of a Solution (Statistics Model, etc.) for Passenger Numbers Based on Automatic Passenger Counting

In the railway reform, it was decided to put passenger traffic on the Norwegian Railway out for competitive tendering. This has opened up for multiple train operators in Norway. Currently there is no standard for calculation of passenger numbers, the train operators are free to choose which method they will use for calculation of the number of trips. A survey showed that there is a need to procure a joint statistics model for the sector. This is to ensure comparable and trustworthy numbers in income distributions, reporting and analysis of the train offer across the train operators.
