The Norwegian Defence Estates Agency has been given the task of renewing the Equipment Quay at Haakonsvern Naval Base (HOS) so that the quay is adapted for the Navy's new vessel structure. The quay was constructed in 1960, it has a quay front length of 190 m, is between 10 and 12 m wide and was built as an open concrete covered girder quay. The project consists of the renovation of the quay, upgrades to the transformer station and the establishment of technical infrastructure for the quay. Most of the work in the project will be within the renovation of the quay and buildings: concrete renovation and reinforcement of the existing quay and the establishment of cathodic protection of the quay. Upgrades to the fender system, demolition of the existing quay house and the construction of two new quay houses, establishment of new bollards on land. Constructional renovation of the existing transformer station. The project includes a technical upgrade of the transformer station and the establishment of new transformer installations for land electricity and the conveyance of the necessary infrastructure to the quay house (water, sewage, electricity, ICT). The project also includes sea work — deepening the harbour basin in places (blasting and dredging) and the establishment of Duc d'Albe (fender supports). In addition there will be security measures around the quay and the establishment of new sailing markings for navigation. The work in the project will be announced as a general contract in accordance with NS 8405. Project timetable: The tender documentation is scheduled to be sent out in June 2020, with a start-up of the work in autumn 2020. The work must be completed by spring 2022.
