Racking Contract.

The home of the National Army Museum is undergoing extensive building works to ensure it meets the needs of modern audiences, staff and volunteers. The Museum, which is currently closed for the construction works and is set to re-open in Autumn 2016, will offer a new, more welcoming entrance area with increased access throughout the building including new central atrium which will compliment the more accessible design and create a 'heart' to the building. The Project will also greatly enhanced environmental conditions for the collections on display, improve the storage of archival and research collections to ensure their long-term preservation and greater public access. The required storage racking is in 6 no. storage areas, as identified on the accompanying plans and as detailed in the ITT. These storage areas will house a range of sensitive objects as well as other archive related items such as trolleys and ladders, and the racking contractor should take this into account when considering the most appropriate form of racking for each area. Also, any estimate of racking required would need to allow for an element of future growth.
