Mechanical handling equipment. Tractors. Trailers. Cranes. Fleet management, repair and maintenance services. Telematics system. The MOD has a requirement for Mechanical Handling Equipment and associated attachments and services to replace those currently provided under arrangements that will expire during 2013. The equipments include but are not limited to: — counterbalance trucks and side loaders, — container handlers, — pedestrian, ride-on and electric pallet trucks, — telescopic reach trucks, — very narrow aisle trucks, — tow vehicles including tracked, — agricultural tractors including trailers and ancillaries, — various trailers, ancillaries and MHE attachments. The requirement envisaged comprises the supply, maintenance and fleet management of Mechanical handling Equipment to defined availability criteria, and the provision of associated training, predominantly operating on hard standing environments within the UK, with a number of assets located worldwide. There are also a number of assets on Royal Fleet Auxiliary (RFA) support ships. The total fleet numbers are approximately 3 100 assets. The DMHE fleet is not expected to be deployed on Military Operations. The contracting authority is seeking improved fleet management from the new contractor to reduce the number of assets in the new contract. It should also be noted that elements of the MOD are subject to consideration of sale/outsourcing as part of the Strategic Defence and Security Review and Spending Review 2010 and as such the DMHE contract will contain provisions that accommodate the transfer of responsibility in such circumstances. The scope of this contract is for the provision of a worldwide fleet, its management, repair and maintenance of MHE and will be split into 5 lots.
