The aim of the procurement is to establish a contract to forward data traffic on a fixed data connection to approx. 160 base stations (called permanent geodesic stations (PGS)) in mainland Norway, as well as to offer new establishments by the expansion of the PGS network (estimated to approx. 20 per annum). The permanent geodesic stations create a geographical nationwide network of GPS receivers with approx. 70 km distance between each station. The stations are relatively evenly distributed nationwide, i.e. they are located both in the major towns and also in smaller central locations. There will only be a need for limited band width to transfer the relatively small data amounts from each PGS to the control centre at Hønefoss, but the systems that use the data completely depend on stable almost real time transfer.
