Coventry University, Lanchester Library is undertaking a tender process for the implementation of RFID systems across the Library. The project will comprise Use of RFID for item identification and security. The replacement of existing self service loan machines with modern, efficient, customer friendly devices, including automated mechanisms for the payment of fines. The insertion of RFID tags in all loanable Library stock, including book stock and various multimedia items. The upgrading of the Library security, book detection systems, including the replacement of the existing security gates; The introduction of a fully automated self return system linked to an automated book sorting unit The adoption of informed collection management utilising Digital Library Assistants to supplement and add value to data already existing in our LMS.
