STFC seek suppliers able to provide solutions giving, as a guide, additional CPU capacity. In 2011 STFC will be seeking additional capacity of at least 12 000 HEP-SPEC06 measured using the gcc compiler, for delivery in late 2011 to augment the existing capacity and meet the needs of the GridPP project. The volume of equipment to be purchased will be finalised at the tender stage and STFC reserves the right to purchase more or less than this initial guide figure. Suppliers will be asked to provide a fully racked solution and the servers must be capable of supporting x86_64 bit versions of the latest release of Scientific Linux Version 5, in order to properly support the EGEE and WLCG software stacks and LHC experiment codes.
