Vikingskipet — new track cover.

The building is founded on point load-bearing piles on rock as a support for a bottom concrete plate constructed as a slack reinforced flat slab. Insulation, a sliding layer and a combined slack reinforced/tensioned cast (called the track cover) has been laid over the bottom slab with embedded plastic pipes for conveying a salt solution as a cooling medium. It is now apparent that the embedded plastic pipes have limited durability and they now have cracks which have led to ever more leakages in the pipe system, which has resulted in increasing operational problems and operational expenses. The track cover shall therefore be demolished and a new, mostly equivalent cover shall be established.
