Scoping Exercise to Aid Planning for an Upgraded Weather Radar Network for Ireland

Met Éireann is planning to upgrade and modernise the national weather radar network to enhance the quality and reliability of meteorological and hydrological services provided to the Irish public. To assist in the planning of the project, we intend to issue a request for tender for a scoping exercise on an upgraded and modernised weather radar network for Ireland in the coming weeks. The service providers who will carry out the scoping exercise will work with Met Éireann to: — specify the weather radar system requirements for Ireland, — design an optimal weather radar network, including radar systems and site locations, — conduct a cost-benefit analysis on the upgraded national weather radar network, and — draft a plan for the implementation of the modernised weather radar network and estimate budget requirements.
