North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire Council’s are working in partnership in a programme to enable the provision of digital services through super fast broadband to all businesses, homes and community centres throughout the South Humber area (North and North East Lincolnshire). Due to a range of factors, we anticipate that a mix of technologies (e.g. FTTC, FTTP, wireless) will be required to cover the whole of North and North East Lincolnshire. Priority areas identified are based upon: — expected coverage of the area by existing commercial providers, — each council’s regeneration aspirations and details the areas of proposed economic and housing development across the area, — opportunities in certain geographies for the public sector to make use of the new infrastructure and also to gain efficiencies of shared services, — indices of deprivation for the area broken down by super output area (SOA). This information has shown that there are significant areas of deprivation, high customer usage and planned regeneration investment where super fast broadband will not be available without intervention. North and North East Lincolnshire Council’s are making a joint bid to BDUK for funding for the project. An Expression of Interest has been submitted to DCMS and it is the intention to submit a BDUK Broadband Plan by October 2011. In order to co-finance the programme, we are bidding for European funding, as appropriate. As a result we will need to fulfil the EU Digital Agenda target at 30 Mb/s for 100 % of customers.
