Test bench located at Kenya Navy Dockyards in Mombasa.

As a part of the bilateral agreement between the Kingdom of Denmark and the Republic of Kenya, it has been decided to modify the existing test bench of the Kenya Navy, located at the Kenya Navy Dockyards in Mombasa, in order to support the Kenya Navy in its challenges regarding maintenance and repair of the Kenya Navy existing diesel engines. The Kingdom of Denmark will lead the project. The goal is to modify the existing test bench for Paxman Valenta 18 CM engines making the test bench able to facilitate test of MTU 16V 956 TBA 91 and MTU 16V 362 TL too. After the modification is completed the test bench must be able to facilitate test of all three engine types. Switching between the three engine types must only require minor preparations. The existing test bench roughly consists of a frame for the Paxman Valenta 18 CM engine to be tested and a water-brake type Fraude Consine Ltd. During test the condition of an engine can be monitored in the control room. As an integral part of the project the foundation for each engine must be created so the engine outlet is aligned with the coupling for the existing water-brake. If necessary the foundation of the water brake must be modified to support testing of all 3 engine types. The foundation for each engine type must be aligned for coupling engine shaft to the water brake. The equipment in the control room must be modified to facilitate test of all three engine types. The present system is able to conduct test of the Paxman Valenta 18 CM engines. The bid must include all connections, switches, plugs, tubes and pipes etc. needed for the installation as well as the eventually costs for modifications needed for supporting and monitoring test of all 3 engine types. The bid must include two weeks training and education in operating the test bench and control room facilities. The capacity of the existing cooling system supports testing of the Paxman Valenta 18 CM engines. The bid must include eventually additional expenses for modifying the cooling system to support test of all three engine types. The preferred bidder must be able to provide maintenance and repair support at the Kenya Navy Dockyard in Mombasa.
