Portsmouth City Council (the Council) has awarded a contract for the supply of Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) Close Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras and supporting processing system with on-going associated maintenance. The cameras are being placed in order to deter people from using the bus lanes and promote the sustainable transport objectives. The cameras will be used to record instances of motorists that fail to adhere to the bus lane regulations and as a result will be issued with a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) for this contravention. The contract will be for a period of 5 years with the option to extend in annual increments to a maximum of 10 years based on performance and agreement by both parties. The contract is due to commence during July 2015. The value of the contract in year one is 46 780 GBP reducing to 19 465 GBP per annum thereafter equating to a contract value of 124 640 GBP over the initial 5 year term and 221 965 GBP over 10 years.
