NYCC are awarding the proposed scheme is for the construction of a 4.8 km long, two-lane highway to bypass the villages of Leeming Bar and Aiskew and the town of Bedale, in North Yorkshire. The new highway will comprise a single carriageway road, 7.3 metres wide with 1 metre wide hard strips and 2.5 metre verges and two new bridges. The route of the road will cross arable and grazing pasture, woodland and a single track railway line. The route is split in to 2 halves by the existing A1(M) with the bypass linking to the interchange at junction 51.
