Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Authority provide a fire and rescue service to the population of the 10 Metropolitan Districts within Greater Manchester. There is a requirement to track assets (operational equipment) held on fire appliances – pumping appliances and special appliances. The tracking will cover the asset itself, plus capture details of inspections and checks undertaken on the asset to ensure it is in working order. This project is looking at how this can be undertaken using technology where appropriate and capturing appropriate data within our corporate systems. An ICT based system will be introduced with data entry undertaken at source to satisfy our requirements. As a minimum, such records must include the following: — information on the type and model of equipment; — any identification mark or number that it has; — its normal location; — the date the inspection was done; — who did the inspection; — any faults found; — any action taken regarding such faults; — to whom and by whom these faults were reported; — the date repairs or other actions were carried out; We intended to use the AGRESSO system as the database holding these records. The Key deliverables include: — tracking of operational equipment held on fire appliances; — development of a technical solution to facilitate this; — replacement of the paper based system currently used by stations; — development of a link to Agresso system; — development of suitable management information.
