The North East London Foundation Trust is proceeding with the procurement of an Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (EPMA) system to provide an appropriate solution which meets the needs of the organisation. Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (EPMA) is the computerisation of the processes of prescribing, processing, stock control' and recording the administration of medicines. EPMA replaces the current paper prescription and administration record chart normally completed for every in-patient, as well as discharge and outpatient prescription forms, and those used in Community settings. The EPMA system shall achieve the following critical business benefits: — Improve the Trust's medicines management administration. — Significantly improve patient safety and the quality of care. — Improve the medicines management process and enhance medicines optimisation. — Remove paper based processes from prescribing.
