Rationale. The North East PEACE III Partnership has recognised the opportunity to engage with predominantly loyalist communities. There is a need is to deepen and extend the process of reconciliation within Loyalist Communities by creating a framework for change within these communities. The transformation project needs to address key issues within the communities and continue the single identity work that was initiated through the Messines Experience Programme under Phase 1. It needs to specifically target and access hard to reach areas, individuals and groups, especially those who have the biggest influence on addressing conflict issues in their areas and train them in all aspects of community development work. Project Outline. This will be achieved through an: — Assessment of the issues that these communities face, — Undertaking a consultation process with local influencers and stakeholders, — Developing solutions, based on practical programme proposals, which can be delivered for the benefit of the community, — Working in local communities to empower local residents to become leaders within their own communities, — Establishment of cluster groupings, — The promotion of a structure of positive leadership amongst the target communities, — Exploring opportunities for cross community activity, — Enabling the transfer of learning from project to other areas and communities, — To engage with youth and establish inclusive projects to assist them being full members of their communities, — To explore opportunities to engage with those from other traditions, — Creating a vision for the future of these communities.
