Marine Spatial Plan

The Scottish Government, on behalf of its project partners the Department of Enterprise Trade and Investment in Northern Ireland and the Department of Energy, Communications and Natural Resources in Ireland, seeks tender submissions from suitably qualified consultants to produce a Spatial Plan and Sustainability Appraisal for the ISLES maritime zone. This work will inform the future commercialisation of a sub-sea electricity network that in turn can assist in the development of the offshore renewable energy sector. The successful contractor for this element of the ISLES project will deliver under a single contract: i. a Marine Spatial Plan; ii. a Sustainability Appraisal, comprising of: a) a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA); b) a Habitats Regulations Appraisal (HRA) to identify the potential for effects on European nature conservation sites; c) a Socioeconomic Impact Assessment – an assessment of the impacts of the plan on communities, other users of the sea and the economy.
