This PIN has been placed for advertising purposes only to inform the market of an opportunity to provide and support network equipment for a new research and education networking project called AfricaConnect2 (AC2). GÉANT is contracted by the European Commission to connect West and Central Africa (Cluster 2) and North African (Cluster 3) and this is the geographical area being addressed by this PIN. In undertaking this work GÉANT (www.geant.org) is partnered by regional R&E networking organisations WACREN (www.wacren.net) and ASREN (www.asrenorg.net). South and South Eastern Africa form Cluster 1 and are served by a sister project contracted between the UbuntuNet Alliance and the EC. AC2 runs from June 2015 to end 2018 and it is planned to start procurement for Clusters 2 and 3 by Q4 2015. AC2 plans to connect the participating national research and education network (NREN) partners: — Within each cluster, — Between clusters, — Between clusters and Europe. It is planned that the network will comprise clear channel bandwidth between termination points to be designated to connect the NREN national networks at capacities anywhere between 34/45 Mbps and 10 Gbps depending on specific requirements and costs. Network topology is not pre-defined; traffic will be routed through 1 or more nodes serving each cluster and this will be designed in the light of optimum technical and commercial offers in the subsequent procurement activities. The network will be used for non-commercial purposes only. Cluster 2 countries: Benin, Cameroon, Côte d'Ivoire, Gabon, Ghana, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Togo. Cluster 3 countries: Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia. To help plan for the procurement GÉANT and partners invite interested companies to provide an initial response using the GEANT eProcurement portal (www.geant-procurement.net) about their capabilities relating to network routing equipment: — Provide all individual hardware and software components, — Delivery to site, installation and commissioning, — Equipment support and maintenance support network. The response should be provided as soon as possible via the procurement portal and in any case no later than 11.9.2015 and should include: — A 1 page description of the respondent and a web-link for its most recently published annual report, — A 1 page description of the network routing equipment supported. A full list of the countries from the Cluster 2 and 3 lists above where the supplier can provide, install and maintain network routing equipment and information about the supplier's support channels in these countries including any subcontractors or distributors. Such a description should also include information on taxes or import duties to import such equipment into the countries assuming that GEANT UK Ltd was the contracting party with the supplier.
