After several years of research Nagra is leading a large scale experiment to analyse the processes of a 1:1 model of an underground repository tunnel for spent fuel and high level radioactive waste. Note that radioactive waste will not be present in the model at any stage. For the special designed backfilling and sealing of the galleries a specific type of raw bentonite is required. The raw bentonite will be transformed into a bentonite pellet mixture that will be emplaced in the experimental tunnel using a screw conveyor to limit segregation of the grain size distribution. This procurement calls for contractors to deliver the required bentonite pellet mixture. Targeting this final product, the work has been divided into four different work packages to define the technical and production specifications of: WP 1 the required raw bentonite. WP 2 the drying process of the raw bentonite. WP 3 the required bentonite pellets. WP 4 the required bentonite pellet mixture, including rounding of the constituents. Your company may apply for one (with exception of WP 2) or more of the work packages independently. Nevertheless Nagra will privilege companies offering several work packages (joint offers are also allowed).
