A comprehensive Community Opthalmology Service will provide a full local pathway for patients who require: Non urgent assessments - ( new patients); Glaucoma Assessment - Ocular Hypertension ( new/follow up patients); Glaucoma Assessment - stable follow up appointments; The service shall be an outpatient service, community based, providing care and treatment for adult patients (16 and over) presenting with a range of eye conditions. The service is specifically intended to address conditions that do not require secondary care surgery or specialist care and is for recently occurring medical eye conditions and follow-up appropriate to the community setting and will be delivered at 2 levels. Level One is for cases that are more complex whereby they require specialist skills or technology. Level Two is for less complex or simpler conditions that do not necessarily need specialist skills or the use of complex equipment. Cheshire and Merseyside Commissioning Support Unit (CMCSU) are procuring this new service on behalf of West Cheshire CCG and will facilitate engagement with potential service providers and patient/user groups. This on-going engagement will assist us in developing the draft service delivery model and specification.
