The HIOWLA (Hampshire & Isle of Wight Local Authorities) Chief Executives Group has identified waste management as key to reducing cost for all Hampshire council tax payers. They have commissioned a review looking at options for reducing collection and disposal costs. As part of this, the Hampshire authorities are currently reviewing future options for collection and reprocessing of glass produced by householders. Feedback is sought on the role that glass could play in reducing net overall cost of waste management in Hampshire. For example: — Is there be a benefit in procuring glass services across multiple authorities? — What is the optimum collection system for glass to minimise overall cost? — Is there a benefit in combining collection and reprocessing contracts? This is a market information exercise only and may not lead to a procurement process or issue of a contract notice. In the event that it did, it is not yet certain which combination of Hampshire authorities would be involve.
