Pyrotechnics. Defence General Munitions Project Team (DGM PT) has a potential requirement for a hand launched store capable of producing a smoke and flame signal for sea marking purposes. The store will be deployed from fixed wing aircraft and must produce a signal on the surface of the sea for a minimum of 40 minutes. The signal must be seen from a distance of several miles during day and night. On completion of the signal or in the event of the store failing to function, it must be rendered inoperable by sinking.
