Refurbishment work. The House of Lords is seeking to procure a Main Contractor for the refurbishment of the Grade II listed building at 6/7 Old Palace Yard. This project is driven by the results of condition surveys and Quadrennial Reviews. The refurbishment seeks to reduce the running costs and carbon footprint of the building, fulfil Parliament's public duty of care to maintain the architectural and historical significance of the building and provide suitable accommodation for use by members and their staff, and staff of the Administration. The project objectives include: Remedy construction failures and defects in the building, protecting the structure and fabric from further deterioration and escalating cost of continuing repairs. Improve Fire and Life Safety systems- Renew and replace expired mechanical and electrical plant, equipment and associated systems. Provision of a fully automatic, monitored Electrical and Mechanical system with an N+1 resilience. Improve the physical security of the building and the implementation of estate-wide access control philosophies. Prepare the building infrastructure to leverage the benefits of future estate-wide electrical power, heating and cooling programmes to improve resilience, monitoring, consumption, emissions and ongoing cost. Improve the accessibility to the building for the widest range of people, which will be achieved though the provision of an internal lift that will access all floors of the building. Upgrade and modernise ICT infrastructure.- Reduce maintenance and running costs.- Standardise and improve the internal arrangement and decoration/finishes in a manner that is consistent and considerate to the conservation of a Georgian building.The form of contract will be GC Works and the value of the contract will be up to approximately GBP 4.2 million.
