Electrical fibre optic cable

The Norwegian Institute of Marine Research's (IMR) needs new electro-optical cables for its MUST (Multi-Usage System for Towed vehicle) vessel on the ‘G.O. Sars’ research vessel Sars. MUST is used for mapping and volume measurement of fish and zoo-plankton, and collecting information from a variety of sensors. The multi-sensor system consists of a 5-channel synchronous sonar system, laser optical plankton measurer, video plankton measurement system, CTD probe, light meters, turbidity sensor, fluorescence sensor, compass and tilt and roll sensors. Telemetry communication has been installed between the vehicle and the control unit on the boat where the transmission takes place via single-mode optical fiber. The cable will also transfer the supply voltage to the vehicle, as well as acting as tow cable.
