Conwy County Borough Council wish to invite suitably qualified Contractors to express their interest and submit a Pre Qualification Questionnaire to take part in the restricted tender process for the contract to undertake the construction of the Promenade Enhancements element of the Colwyn Bay Waterfront VVP Phase 2 scheme. The Colwyn Bay Waterfront Project represents a substantial investment in the infrastructure along Colwyn Bay's seafront and originated through amalgamation of two separate schemes along the coastal frontage into a single, coordinated entity. The project in its entirety consists of coastal defence works, which are required to protect the properties, businesses and vital infrastructure present along the frontage, along with regeneration works to the promenade, which is being developed as part of efforts to drive the economic redevelopment of the town. The VVP Phase 2 works will realise improvements along a 1 km section of promenade, from the Pier to Cayley Bank, Rhos on Sea, to the same standard of finish as achieved for Phase 1 of the scheme (Porth Eirias to the Pier including improved linkage to the town). The scheme will implement an enhanced public realm for the existing promenade, including widening, and raising in certain sections, and the creation of feature ‘headland’ areas. The project will include the creation of business investment opportunities for new private sector investments, such as a feature play area, temporary concession plots and a seaside café.
